#1 Par 4 – 420, 375, 340 & 310…Cypress Row

Hole One At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This dogleg left par four is a strong test to open your round. It has a very wide fairway with 2 bunkers left and 1 right in the landing zone of the tee shot. There are plenty of undulations in this fairway and flat lies are rare. The second shot plays more uphill than it looks with one bunker left and another long. The green sits in a natural saddle. The best place to miss this green is short, as every other area makes for a tough up and down. Walk away with a par on the first and feel happy.

#2 Par 4 – 375, 345, 325 & 300…Vinyl Circle

Hole Two At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This hole is a bit easier than the 1st, but don’t let that fool you. Dew Valley road on the left and two wetlands give this seemingly easy 4 par plenty to avoid. A small deep bunker left and a large bunker right protect this smallish
rolling green with plenty of movement. This is the first of many holes at Bandon Crossing where “long is gone”, with a wetland about 10 paces beyond the green, you may find your ball or not.

#3 Par 4 – 420, 400, 375 & 325…Meadow

Hole Three At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This hole has one of the widest fairways, but the best angle is from the left edge of the fairway with your second shot over the bunker. This gives the biggest opening into this green with a large gaping bunker on the right front. There is a lot of room left to approach the green, but a tricky pitch follows a bail out approach. Long is gone.

#4 Par 5 – 495, 475, 455 & 430… Wildflower

Hole Four At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This dogleg left short par 5 will test your mind.  It has tall grass and wetlands on the left, and the right has 2 driving bunkers and lay-up bunker. Many will have to lay-up to the natural hazard which cuts in front of this very small green. Long hitters with a good drive should be able to reach this short par 5, or at least clear the hazard, but this hole does play into the normal summer winds. There will be birdies and the occasional eagle, but plenty of 6, 7s and 8s to those that make a mistake.

#5 Par 5 – 545, 505, 470 & 445…Crossings

Hole Five At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This is really 2 separate holes that use the same fairway.  As the main card it is a straightaway par 5 that starts on the uplands and plays into the bottomlands, about 70 feet below the tees.  The tee shot is very generous with the length determining the 2nd shot to be played.  There is a small creek at the bottom of the slope into the bottomlands about 60 yards in front of the green.  A third shot from on top of the hill is like throwing darts to a green with plenty of subtle breaks.

#5B par 4 – 410, 370, 335 & 310

Hole Five B At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

5B plays as a dogleg right par 4.  The green is slightly tucked behind the old livestock corral.  This hole is designed and built to have a practical 9 hole layout as the main course does not return after nine.  With this option you can play holes 1-5 then 15-18 and never have to enter and cross the bottomlands.   It is also a very fun and different hole and will be used occasionally during regular play making the course a par 71.  It also brings into play the unique “corral bunker”.

#6 Par 3 – 235, 210, 175 & 155…Southwest Entry

Hole Six At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

The first par three of the round is the longest and is the first hole on the southwest portion of the property.  Being downhill and down wind (in the summer) it plays much shorter than the yardage to one of the biggest greens on the course.  A ball hit short can easily roll onto the green, but come up short right and you’ll finds a pitch from short grass out of a large natural swale.  This green more than any other was built just as the site was found, virtually no shaping was required.

#7 Par 4 430/380, 355, 335 & 275…Level

Hole Seven At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

On windy summer days this may be one of the hardest holes to par on the course.  A very narrow tee shot that you can not miss right.  The smart player will shoot just right of the left fairway bunker and use the slope to hit the fairway.  This second shot can play 3 or 4 clubs longer than the yardage.  Long is gone, but 1 out of 1,000 will hit it over this green, and 8 in 10 will come up short.  Interesting note on this hole is that the blue tees and the green are the same elevation.

#8 Par 4 – 455, 425, 395 & 370…Windfall

Hole Eight At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This dogleg left into the forest is the longest par 4 on the course.  The “chute” effect tee shot is looks deceptively narrow.  The gamblers will try to challenge the Madrone on the left to save few yards.  This rolling fairway gently narrows to a well protected green.  This is not a bad hole to hit a low running approach into the gap in front of the green.  In the summer winds this hole plays short to the yards, in the winter, synch up your belt.  The strategy of playing for a hard par, easy bogey is pretty smart here as trying for too much could lead to a big score.

#9 Par 3 – 175, 155, 145 & 120…Rhodie Way

Hole Nine At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This deceptive 3 par will give the players fits if they do not hit the right part of the green.  The most undulating green is divided by a large spine…wrong side…tough putt.  The above green grade bunker on the right hides more than ½ of the green and will provide many surprises as to the balls final resting place.

#10 Par 4 – 390, 360, 325 & 275…Northern Exposure

Hole Ten At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

Seventy-five yard wide fairway will give many first timers the wrong impression on this straightaway par 4.  The smart play is to work the tee shot to the lower left side of the fairway to get the best angle and view of this angled narrow green.  The right offers a bigger fairway but a hidden view of the green and a tough angle to attack.  The centerline bunker is the largest on the course and is a worthy opponent for those that hit into it and a visual distraction for others.    Long won’t kill you…it just might mess up a good score.

#11 Par 3 – 195, 165, 135 & 115…Half Redan

Hole Eleven At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This downhill down wind par 3 gives the player many options.  The huge down slope on the front of the green can be friend or foe.  The bunkers left look brutal and are, but they can save the player from something worse…like a lost ball.  A nice tee shot which lands just in front of the green should feed towards the center area with a nice putt to any pin location.

#12 Par 5 – 535, 500, 465 & 420…Ant Hill

Hole Twelve At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This slight dogleg right uphill hole has six bunkers, some can hurt you and some will help.  The tee shot plays out of the trees into an open area.  Most drives will have a second shot with an uphill lie to launch it to this upper fairway.  The large transformer on the distant hill is more or less the target.  A left fore bunker should be avoided…unless you are good at a 60 yards bunker shot.  This fairway was not shaped at all, everything natural.  This green will keep you thinking with the rolling nature.

#13 Par 5 – 575, 495, 470 & 400…Carla’s Madrone

Hole Thirteen At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

If you think this hole is easy…you can really play.  This roller coaster par five covers a lot of ground.  The green is visible from the tees, but not everywhere in the fairway, with the down and up elevations.  The tee shot is probably the most difficult on the course.  The back tee is only for the strongest and best players.  Into the summer wind, a par here is very good

#14 Par 3 – 190, 180, 155 & 145…The Drop

Hole Fourteen At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This par 3 will play short because of the big drop in elevation.  The tee offers some of the best views to the bottomlands, the coast range to the east and other areas of the course.  If the summer wind is blowing from the north, start your tee shot left as the wind can really fool you big time.  The pond is not hard against the green but if you catch and ride the wind it plays much closer.  This green has many different pin locations and undulations that really change the way the hole plays.

#15 Par 4 355, 335, 310 & 260…Corral

Hole Fifteen At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This slight dogleg right gives you plenty of room to avoid plenty of trouble.  A tee shot past the center bunker, and near the left fairway bunkers gives you the best angle to most of the pin locations…not all, but most.  Make sure you get it on the same side of the green, as the big dividing slope will test your wits and skill.  If you haven’t made a birdie yet this is the time to start looking.

#16 Par 4 325, 315, 300 & 215…Deceit

Hole Sixteen At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

Brains before brawn on this little par four.  Hit a nice high draw just over 300 yards and you may have an eagle putt.  If you don’t pull it off, par may be real hard. The green is the smallest on the course and the bunkering some of the toughest. The smart player will hit it about 200 yards near the right fairway bunkers to gain the best angle.  Long hitting ladies have a chance to drive this little gem too.  Once again…long is gone

#17 Par 3 170/145, 130, 110 & 60…Snag

Hole Seventeen At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

This par 3 plays over one of the properties old ponds.  It has the widest green with 3 distinct areas but distance control is even more important.  The summer winds make this shortest hole play a lot longer, and don’t be surprised to see many good looking shot come up short.  A left hand pin will test your skill to place your shot between bunkers long and short.  Oh yes, make sure you hit it high enough to clear the Cedar snag.

#18 Par 5 570, 545, 495 & 410…Sunset

Hole Eighteen At Bandon Crossings Golf Course in Bandon, Oregon

The strategy for this dogleg right 5 par changes with the quality of the tee shot.  Hit a nice long drive and fire your second shot over the natural ravine, with lots of roll.  From there face a short downhill shot to the green.  Hit a weak drive an you’ll have to lay-up and have a very long third. Any shots hit from short of the ravine can be played just left of the bunker on the right to feed into this subtle green.  There is a 3 happy bunker on the left and behind this green that you will be happy you are in.  But beyond the back bunker…like I said many times…long is gone.
